Mike Conway ended the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship season on a high, converting pole position into a dominant one-two finish at the final round in Bahrain. After a challenging year, the team signed off in style, securing its first victory of the season and extending the team's winning streak at the Bahrain International Circuit to nine consecutive races.
The weekend began with a standout qualifying session as Kamui Kobayashi earned TOYOTA’s first pole of 2025 in the #7 GR010 HYBRID, setting a lap of 1:46.826. Just behind, Brendon Hartley in the #8 GR010 HYBRID completed the front row for the team, underlining a strong return to form after a demanding campaign. As the sun set over Sakhir, both GR010 HYBRIDs led the Hyperpole shoot-out from the outset, locking out the front row for TOYOTA GAZOO RACING ahead of Saturday’s eight-hour finale.
Starting from pole, Mike Conway took the opening stint and maintained control at the front before handing over to de Vries and Kobayashi, who together executed a faultless team performance. The #7 crew led throughout the night, managing pace, tyres, and strategy to perfection. Despite a mid-race penalty for the sister #8 car of Buemi, Hartley, and Hirakawa, the trio fought back to second place, completing a perfect one-two finish for TOYOTA GAZOO RACING. Crossing the line just 19.3 seconds apart, both cars sealed the team’s first win of the 2025 season and secured second place in the World Championship.
Mike Conway said: “It’s an amazing result. Before the race I felt like we had a good chance, but to come away with a one-two is incredible and I’m so happy for the team. Finishing second in the World Championship is pretty cool as well, we didn’t even think about that coming into the weekend. It’s been a tough season, so to finish on a high like this feels great. And to share it with my mum, who’s here celebrating her birthday, made it even more special.”
The result brings a demanding year to a positive close for TOYOTA GAZOO RACING, who now turn their focus to the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship with an updated GR010 HYBRID and an unchanged driver line-up. Mike will once again join Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries in the #7 car for their third consecutive season together, aiming to build on the momentum from Bahrain and challenge for championship honours next year.
