Conway readies Mercedes for first British F3 at Outlon Park
7 April 2006
With the start of the British F3 International Series just one week away, Sevenoaks driver Mike Conway feels his pre-season preparations have gone according to plan.
But although Conway and the Mercedes-powered Räikkönen Robertson Racing team's pace-setting performance has stood out in pre-season testing, with the opening race at Oulton Park on Easter Monday shaping up as an eagerly anticipated showdown between the new Mercedes engine - which has dominated in European F3, and the Honda unit - the unrivalled force in British F3 of recent times, Conway expects the competition to be close and recognises the challenge ahead of him.
"Testing has been going well and the team is working well together, so things look promising for Oulton Park. We just need to keep up what we are achieving at the moment," he said from Pembrey where Conway's Double R Racing team installed the new engines and completed a final shake down before next week's race. "The team will now be getting ready for the three hour test on Friday, so we can get the final adjustments before qualifying."
Friday testing is from 9am - 12, qualifying on Saturday 11:25 and 15:40 and races on 11:55 and 15:45 on Monday 17 April.
