CONWAY QUICKEST IN FIRST BRITISH F3 TEST
Pembrey, UK
17 February 2006
Sevenoaks's racer Mike Conway kicked off the 2006 season of the British F3 International Series with far and away the quickest times at the first official test at Pembrey this week.
The Double R Racing driver stamped his authority over the field by out-pacing the other championship hopefuls by half a second.
Of the dozen-odd Championship class entrants testing at the south Wales track, Conway , in his Mercedes-Benz-powered Dallara, was the only driver to lap the 1.5 mile circuit in under 50 seconds.
Conway said it felt good to be behind the wheel again. "Everything went as hoped and we got done what we needed to do. The team worked well - I really enjoyed working with my engineer Boris Bermes for the first time - so it's a good way to start the year."
The next official F3 test will be at Snetterton during the first week of March.
