CONWAY POWERED BY MERCEDES-BENZ IN 2006

Kent, UK
14 December 2005

Mike Conway ( Sevenoaks , Kent ) will be competing in British F3 with Räikkönen Robertson Racing in 2006. The BRDC award winner - who received accolades last Monday for his achievements as the top British driver in this year's British F3 International Series - said he was excited about the season with the Mercedes-powered team.

"I'm really looking forward to joining Double R Racing," Conway commented. "I have a lot of respect for [team manager] Anthony Hieatt - he has a great deal of experience in Formula 3." The driver added that he has his sights set on taking out the title in his second year in the Series: "Our aim is to go out next year and win the Championship - I'm looking forward to being powered by Mercedes-Benz engines."

Hieatt expressed the Räikkönen Robertson team owners had been keen to sign Conway since the end of last year. "We're absolutely thrilled to have Mike driving with us next year. He is a fantastic driver; Kimi and the Robertsons have been chasing him for a long time. It is great to have him sign with the team for next season."

The Surrey-based outfit is the first British F3 team to confirm its complete line-up for 2006. Conway will join Bruno Senna and Stephen Jelley under the Double R awning, making it a trio of drivers in their second year of the Championship class of British F3.

The signing gives Conway an opportunity to properly test the team's car before the testing band is imposed at year's end. He will spend two days next week at Valencia giving the team's Dallara Mercedes a work out.
